Nuggets - Tuatara 84-93 Nuggets (7-1) recorded its first loss in Dunedin on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Huskies (6-3) 93-84. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Nuggets. Huskies made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Robert Loe (211-1991, college: St.Louis) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Australian guard Jarrad Weeks (183-1989) chipped in 24 points. Five Huskies players scored in double figures. American guard Jaquori McLaughlin (193-1998, college: UCSB, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 39 points (!!!) and 6 assists and Australian guard Michael Harris (193-1999) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Nuggets' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Huskies have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Defending champion Nuggets still keep top position with one game lost. Huskies are looking forward to face Jets (#6) in Palmerston North in the next round. Nuggets will play at home against Hawks (#9) and are hoping to win this game. It was a great evening for American guard Rickey McGill (188-1997, college: Iona) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Daniel Fotu (203-1999, college: St.Mary's, CA) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Scott Telfer (196-1998) scored 17 points. Bulls maintains fourth place with 5-3 record. Airs lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Bulls will meet at home Giants (#8) in the next round. Airs will play against the league's second-placed Rams and hope to secure a win. Host Rams were defeated by Huskies in Christchurch 84-72. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Rams. Huskies forced 19 Rams turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Robert Loe (211-1991, college: St.Louis) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. Australian guard Jarrad Weeks (183-1989) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Huskies players scored in double figures. American guard Tevin Brown (196-1998, college: Murray St.) answered with 17 points and 4 assists and international guard Walter Brown (190-2003) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Rams. Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Jets' 34. They outrebounded Jets 43-26 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sharks looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Jets' players. It was a great evening for American guard Jeremy Kendle (186-1988, college: Bellarmine) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 20 assists. The former international forward Brayden Inger (203-1999) helped adding 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Sharks players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Javion Blake (191-1997, college: Washburn, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 29 points and 6 assists and the other American import guard Mustapha Heron (196-1997, college: St.John's) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sharks maintains fifth place with 4-5 record. Loser Jets keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Saints. Sharks will meet at home Hawks (#9) in the next round. Jets will play against Huskies and hope to secure a win. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Giants is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They also forced 23 Hawks turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American center Kavion Pippen (208-1996, college: SIU) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 5 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Forward Samuel Dempster (194-1990) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side American forward Ira Lee (203-1998, college: Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Jordan Ngatai (196-1993, college: BYU-Hawaii, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hawks' coach tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Giants (3-6) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Hawks. Giants will meet higher ranked Bulls (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hawks will play against Sharks (#5) in Southland and hope to secure a win. It was a great evening for the former international forward Thomas Vodanovich (201-1994, college: JMU) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Isaiah Mucius (203-1999, college: Wake Forest) helped adding 20 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Australian forward Grant Anticevich (206-1999, college: California) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds and Jamaican center Romaro Gill (218-1994, college: Seton Hall) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Sharks players scored in double figures. Sharks' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Saints moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Jets.
